Many people wonder which direction to turn with the loss of a job and an adequate income to train for a new one.

You may be surprised to learn that there is no end to the abundance of jobs in the health field as a certified nursing assistant.

And why are there so many of these jobs available? The answer is that simply many people do not enjoy a job taking care of other people and up until now, the average $10 to $14 per hour that a CNA makes was not attractive enough to most people to draw them to this field or for them to stay in the field. For further information on CNA salary you can check local sources on the pay scale.

Despite the fact that the pay is low, the training in this field is short and inexpensive and sometimes free, making it attractive for an individual that wants to get a job quickly and does not detest the thought of working with people that need assistance from others.

The true saying “there is more happiness in giving than in receiving” is definitely true in this field if you go into it knowing and understanding that you’re constantly giving and that you can really reap satisfaction from individuals that have no visitors for weeks at a time, and have no ability to pursue their own personal hopes and dreams any longer.

Another advantage of this job is that you have a wide array of settings to choose from as to where you may want to work.

Hospitals, doctors offices, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, group homes, and home healthcare facilities are some of the choices of locations where CNAs are employed. You can also work as an independent caregiver and choose your own hours and rate of pay.

The hospital setting is perhaps one of the best paying, and you have the opportunity to work with all ages of patients.

The doctor’s office,if it is not a general practitioner, will cater to the senior crowd or TO children.

If you like working with senior citizens, a nursing home, assisted living facility, or working through a home health care agency would be a good option.

Assisted living facilities tend to have seniors that have less disabilities than a regular nursing home, however many nursing homes offer free CNA training while working on the job, which is an added perk to starting off at a nursing home in this new field.

Whatever the case, with an uncertain economy, this is one field that continues to overflow with jobs. In times like this, it is helpful to know where the job security is. With an abundant supply of senior citizens, sick people, and people with disabilities, the facilities and agencies that are necessary to take care of these ones in this day and age will continue to need workers.
